A major firefighting operation took place after a blaze spread from a chimney to engulf the roof of a home.
Emergency services were called to Beggars Lane in Kelleth, near Tebay in the Eden Valley, at about 3.55am yesterday THUR .
Three fire engines, from Shap, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith, were all dispatched, with support from the welfare unit in Cockermouth.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire had spread from the chimney to the roof space. Firefighters used small gear, a thermal imaging camera, two hose reel jets and scottie back packs to tackle the blaze.
"They also used height safety packs, two roof ladders and two 10m ladders to access the fire."
