A prolific offender who went on a crime spree in three different Cumbrian towns has been locked up for a year.
Drug addict Darren Hilland, 35, tried to stuff products down his pants while shoplifting at Whitehaven's B&M store in May, and broke into a garage the same day.
In March he stole goods from two shops in Wigton before being found in possession of a knife at the town railway station.
Then, in June, he committed another theft in Workington, where he was also found in possession of a glass hammer.
He admitted seven offences and was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today.
Judge Peter Davies imposed a 12-month jail term having heard Hilland, of Lakeside View, Workington, had a raft of offences on his criminal record. These included house burglaries and a robbery.
A second man, 39-year-old Andrew Monkhouse, admitted jointly committing the Wigton crimes.
Monkhouse, of Sarsfield Road, Workington, was jailed for three days having already spent time in custody.
