A man who hit a clubber in the face with a glass as violence flared on the dancefloor has been spared an immediate jail term.
Victim Jamie Stables was left scarred after he was struck by Shaun Glendinning, 22, in Penrith's Warehouse bar.
Glendinning pleaded guilty to an actual bodily harm assault on April 19 and was sentenced today at Carlisle Crown Court.
The attack happened while Glendinning, of The Old Paddock, Newbiggin, Penrith, was subject to a suspended prison sentence.
However, Judge Barbara Forrester gave him a final chance after receiving "glowing" references and hearing of his remorse. He claimed to have forgotten the glass was in his hand.
A 23-week prison sentence was suspended for two years and Glendinning must complete 180 hours' unpaid work.
He must pay his victim compensation and was prevented from contacting him for three years.
He was also banned from all pubs and licensed premises in Penrith and Appleby for six months.
