A man who sexually assaulted two teenage girls has been spared an immediate prison sentence.

Mohammed Waris Ali, 46, committed the offences while living in Egremont.

Carlisle Crown Court heard Ali grabbed a 15-year-old girl's bottom, leaving her "extremely concerned".

He also grabbed a 16-year-old girl in a similar fashion in two separate occasions, causing her to become distressed, as well as trying to grab her breast.

Ali, a chef by trade who has since moved to the north east, denied the allegations, which occurred between late 2015 and early 2016.

But after a trial at Carlisle Crown Court he was found guilty of committing three sexual assaults, and one attempted sexual assault.

He was sentenced today by Recorder Michael Murray, who suspended a nine-month jail term for two months.

Ali, of Normandy Road, Middlesbrough, was given a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was also made subject to a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely, and must sign the sex offenders' register for seven years.
