A dog got stuck down a rabbit hole in Carlisle last night.
Firefighters were called out to help rescue the pet.
The Jack Russell was chasing a rabbit on wasteland behind Cammock Crescent, Upperby, when it went missing.
The owner contacted the fire service for help.
The Carlisle East fire crew arrived at about 7.30pm.
They said the dog was buried about 10ft deep in a rabbit hole.
Firefighters used shovels, spades and lighting to excavate the area around the hole. They left the scene at 9.45pm.
The dog was eventually found and reunited with its owner.
