A house in Carlisle has been badly damaged by fire.
The blaze started in the roof space of the detached property at Castlesteads Drive, Yewdale, last night.
A passer-by spotted the fire and called 999.
There was nobody in the property, which had recently been refurbished and was set to be let, at the time.
Three fire crews, two from Carlisle and one Wigton, along with the area's aerial ladder platform, spent three hours at the house tackling the blaze.
A spokesman said they were called at 8.50pm and the roof area was well-alight on arrival.
Firefighters wearing breathing equipment used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. They left the scene at 11.45pm.
