KEITH Curle is used to sitting near the top of league table - but he's right at the bottom for one hardcore Carlisle United fan.

Lifelong Blues supporter Aidan Baxter, 25, has made his own very special tribute to the club's manager - by having a tattoo of the gaffer's face inked on his backside.

Aidan, of the city's London Road, said he decided to get it done as a way of showing he's really behind the Utd boss.

As well as a picture of Curle's face, it features the phrase: Mysterious Curle, I Wanna Play 3 - 5 - 2 - the lyrics to a popular fans' chant.

Speaking to the News & Star , Aidan revealed what possessed him.

"The stuff about Keith Curle has been going on since he came into the club and me and my mates have really got behind him," he said.

"But we have got a couple of mates who have just not taken a liking to him for whatever reason.

"So we have just got more and more extreme in our support so we can annoy them but also to back Keith.

"Another lad we know had come home from holiday with the words 'Mysterious Curle' and the stuff about 3-5-2 on his bum.

"So a mate said to me you can't be outdone, so I went to sort it out.

"I was just looking at getting the words but I had a few drinks and the face ended up on there as well. It's the best place to hide it."

Aidan, who works in the Royal Mail's sorting office in Junction Street, revealed he got the tattoo while on holiday in Bali, Indonesia, a trip he's just returned from this week.

"I think it's quite funny, it's definitely got a lot of people talking," he added.

"My family and friends have been having a good laugh.

"A couple of the lads knew I was getting it done on holiday because of our group chat but my dad, who picked me up from the airport, is not a fan of tattoos.

"So I showed him when we'd already set off back to Carlisle from Edinburgh so he couldn't do anything about it.

"He did have a good giggle about it and he had a closer look and says it's quite good, that it really looks like him."

But the bid to get a quality tattoo almost hit a bum note.

"There was obviously a language barrier and it nearly went wrong a couple of times," he continued.

"I told the fella what I wanted and I got a picture of Keith Curle up on his computer and he started to type 'mysterious' in and it was completely wrong, I don't know what he was writing so I had to do it for him."

Keith Curle even spoke about Aidan's tattoo in the press conference ahead of today's (SAT) game.

"I've never been embellished in ink before. It's pretty surreal," he said,

"I think there's more to come. Maybe a full-body one next. I've got a decent physique that I think could fit on somebody's bicep."

The homage to the Blues gaffer isn't the only thing Carlisle United-related that Aidan has tattooed on himself.

When he was about 18, he decided to get the image of the club's mascot - Olga the Fox - on his chest.
