The family of a 37-year-old woman who died after a car crash say they are "beyond devastated."

Helen Threlfell, from Plumpton, near Penrith, died following the crash on the A66 near Stainton.

She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a critical condition after the one-vehicle collision on Friday, April 15. 

She died on Sunday due to her injuries.

Her family have paid tribute to her life. They said: ​“We are beyond devastated at the loss of Helen. 

"Our lives will never be the same again. Helen was a beautiful, kind and caring girl who took great pride in everything she did.

"Helen was passionate about interior design, she loved spending time with her family and going for long country walks. 

"She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.”

Specially trained officers are supporting her family at this time.
