Edinburgh Woollen Mill boss Philip Day: CUFC's new investor?
Wealthy Cumbrian businessman Philip Day could be poised to get involved in Carlisle United.
It has emerged today that Day's firm, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, have a new charge over United's ground at Brunton Park.
EWM has not so far commented on the arrangement.
But in a statement, United said: "We can confirm that we are extending our partnership with one of our long-standing and valued commercial sponsors - EWM. More details to follow soon."
The arrangement suggests that Day - ranked Cumbria's richest man with a fortune of £1.05bn by last year's Sunday Times Rich List - may be coming to the club's financial aid.
The charge against the stadium was created last Wednesday, the Companies House information shows.
That is likely to be as security against a loan.
The Sunday Times last year ranked Day 110th in its list of the country's richest people.
It claimed he was the seventh wealthiest man in the north west, after his assets increased by some £300m.
Day has previously been on the board at United.
Thehas invited United, Edinburgh Woollen Mill and the Carlisle United Official Supporters' Club to comment.
