Two earthquakes were recorded off the west Cumbrian coast last night.
The tiny tremors took place within about 10 minutes of each other.
The first, measuring a magnitude of 0.8 on the Richter Scale, happened at 9.50pm in the Solway Firth.
The second, just after 10pm, measured 1.7 magnitude and occurred in the same area, about six miles north west of Maryport.
The quakes were so small they were unlikely to have been felt, but were picked up by seismograph technology.
The British Geological Survey has officially recorded them.
Both quakes happened well underground.
