A thug who beat up two men in violent pub attacks in a Cumbrian town has been jailed for almost four years.

Jordan Starkey, 24, stormed behind the bar of a pub at Hensingham, Whitehaven, in August last year despite having previously been barred.

Starkey, who had drunk 10 pints, headbutted the landlord before knocking him to the ground with a flurry of punches.

That attack came three months after Starkey struck a different man outside a pub on the same street.

The victim on that occasion hit his head on the ground and was left with a fractured skull.

Starkey was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today having admitted being responsible for those attacks and assaults on three different women in Whitehaven last April.

One of the women was his former partner, who was momentarily knocked unconscious.

Starkey, previously of Patterdale Close, Whitehaven, was jailed for a total of three years and 10 months by Recorder Michael Murray.
