A BOOZED-UP burglar stole a phone from a pensioner's home and then used it to film himself, a court heard.
Angus Walton, 46, stole possessions from several people who were at the house in Workington to help the elderly occupant.
Walton sneaked into the Bank Road property on the morning of April 11. He snatched a chainsaw, bottle of whisky, a handbag and a phone.
Walton fled the scene, went to a nearby churchyard and filmed himself on the stolen handset.
Carlisle Crown Court heard that the incriminating footage was later seen by police as they investigated the crime.
Walton admitted the burglary and was sentenced today.
Judge Peter Davies imposed a 12-month jail sentence which was suspended for two years.
Walton, of Mossbay Road, Workington, must also comply with a three-month night-time curfew.
