A Merseyside drug dealer who was part of a large-scale supply chain of heroin into Carlisle has been jailed.

Steven Wong, aged 20, of Osborne Road, Tuebrook, Liverpool, was found in possession of a kilo of heroin.

Carlisle Crown Court handed him a three year prison sentence for possession of Class A drug with intent to supply.

Wong was arrested on the M6 in Cheshire in February last year as part of a police investigation into the large-scale supply of heroin into Carlisle.

Officers found that Merseyside-based couriers were transporting the drug to a Carlisle-based organised crime group.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Hill, of the Cumbria Constabulary Serious and Organised Crime Unit, said: “We hope that the sentence imposed on Steven Wong sends out a clear message to all those who are involved in drug supply that such activity will not be tolerated in Cumbria."

Anyone with information into the supply of drugs is asked to contact police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
