It was a red carpet extravaganza for one Cumbrian youngster, as he mingled with the stars at a glittering London charity ball.

Disabled schoolboy Noah Wall got to experience the VIP treatment when he attended the prestigious Caudwell Children's annual Butterfly Ball.

It is one of the most prestigious fundraising events in the country and attracts an audience including celebrities from the worlds of film, television, sport and music.

The five-year-old, from Abbeytown, was diagnosed in the womb with spina bifida and hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and his parents were warned he would not survive birth.

Despite this, Noah has defied the odds - battling not only to survive, but also to overcome a range of disabilities including being born with 2 per cent brain function and being paralysed from the chest down.

The inspirational youngster, who started mainstream school in September, campaigns with his parents Michelle and Rob to raise awareness of the importance of folic acid. Women should start taking the supplement three months before falling pregnant.

Last week Noah was a special guest at the Butterfly Ball, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, London.

Singers Peter Andre and Rachel Stevens, former England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman and Coronation Street actress and Loose Women presenter Denise Welch were among a host of guests at the glamorous event, which raised more than £1m for Caudwell Children.

The charity, which provides practical and emotional support for disabled children and their families, welcomed more than 800 guests.

The night culminated in an exclusive performance by Paloma Faith and Craig David presents TS5.

Noah, posed with a selection of guests on the red carpet ahead of the event.

Trudi Beswick, chief executive from Caudwell Children, said: “He happily posed on the red carpet with a number of celebrity guests and had a fantastic time; he was in his element.”

The evening’s auction saw lots on offer including a seven-night stay on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, an F1 racing experience at the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix and seven-night stay in either Thailand or the Caribbean on John Caudwell’s superyacht Titania.
