Mountain rescue team volunteers have stripped off to raise funds for the bare essentials this year.

To raise money to upgrade their vehicles, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team braved the elements to create a calendar with a difference.

Member Luke Armitage said the vehicles are an important part of what they do and the upgrade is essential.

And Alan Conway added: “We bared all of our natural beauty so we can raise money for the bare essentials!

"I was really apprehensive about the theme of the calendar at first and being photographed but I ended up getting into it and found myself suggesting different shots! I am proud of what we have produced as a team.”

Emma Johnston said she felt it was important that she got involved as well to show that women are part of the front-line team.

The theme remained under wraps until the calendars big 'reveal' last Friday.

The calendar is available from Booths and Go Outdoors in Penrith as well as Cotswold Outdoors and Eden Rock in Carlisle. It will be available on eBay soon.

The team has organised a launch event at Rheged, near Penrith, from 10am on October 29.

Penrith MRT is made up of unpaid volunteers whose activities are purely funded through donations. They cover the largest geographic area of any of the Lakes District rescue teams and often work alongside neighbouring teams to support them.
