A market trader has been banned from two chip shops after he contacted an employee - breaching a restraining order.

Late last year, 68-year-old Mohammad Ramzan was banned from contacting or approaching Corrine Wilson after he was convicted of harassing her over the course of a year.

But, in January, Ramzan went to Crosby's fish and chip shop, Whitehaven, while Ms Wilson was behind the counter.

Carlisle Crown Court heard the pair made eye contact before she walked away.

As Ramzan entered the shop and ordered food he was asked to leave. He did so and quickly apologised.

Today he was sentenced having admitted a restraining order breach.

Concluding the illegal contact was "fleeting" Judge Tony Lancaster imposed a £200 fine.

Ramzan, of Lonsdale Court, Whitehaven, was banned from contacting or approaching Ms Wilson for five years - and from entering two Crosby's chip shops.

An extra six months were added to a suspended prison sentence he was given on a previous occasion.
