A man has admitted possessing extreme pornographic images.

Paul Grant Mumberson, 53, of Bolton Street, Workington, admitted four charges of possessing extreme pornographic images of a dog.

He also admitted possessing a prohibited image of a child, in the form of a cartoon.

Workington Magistrates Court heard that Mumberson was arrested in October after police became suspicious about the online activity coming from his IP address.

Peter Bardsley, prosecuting, said police used the IP address to find Mumberson's house and found videos on Mumberson's computer.

Police also looked through Mumberson's search history and found online searches relating to child pornography.

The magistrates deemed the offences too severe for the court to deal with, so Mumberson was given unconditional bail and the case was adjourned to Carlisle Crown Court on July 22.

Defending, David Thompson, said the downloads had taken place over two months in 2014 and Mumberson denied any memory of downloading or viewing the image.
