A woman who failed to complete a single hour of community service she was given for serious crimes has narrowly avoided being jailed.
Care worker and mother-of-three Gemma Armfield was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court late last year.
A judge heard she had caused a car crash in west Cumbria by texting, plotted to lodge a bogus insurance claim after the collision and then intimidated a criminal case witness.
Armfield, 32, received a suspended prison term in November having admitted dangerous driving, perverting the course of justice and intimidation charges.
She was also handed 130 hours' unpaid work - but was brought back to court today after failing to complete a single hour.
Recorder Kevin Grice heard work and family commitments had made that court punishment "untenable".
Armfield accepted breaching the order and was told she ran the risk of being sent straight to prison.
But after hearing submissions, Recorder Grice spared her jail and substituted the unpaid work requirement with a 12-week night-time curfew.
However, he told Armfield, of Mill Hill, Cleator Moor: "There won't be another chance for you."
