Firefighters were called to tackle a house fire in the early hours of this morning.
Two appliances from Seascale and Bootle were called to the home in Boot at about 5.05am.
They discovered that there had been a fire in the chimney, which had subsequently burnt through to the floor beams and floorboards.
Crews used small hand tools and a saw to cut the floor boards and beams away so that they could investigate the cause of fire.
Firefighters could find no evidence of flames, but remained on scene to investigate and ensure there were no embers.
