Police are appealing after burglars stole cash from a barbers in west Cumbria.

Around £85 was taken from the till of The Lad Barber on Main Street, Egremont on Wednesday night (December 7).

Police have said that the thieves got into the premises by breaking a window at the back of the property.

Money from a tip jar for staff was also stolen.

Detective Inspector Vicki Coombes said: “We saw some similar incidents, where tip jars were stolen from hairdressers in the west of the county, in the lead up to Christmas last year.

“Officers have been visiting such businesses today advising business owners to be wary of leaving cash on display or leaving money on the premises overnight.”
