A CARLISLE woman has been airlifted to hospital after falling in the Lake District.
The 63-year-old was flown to hospital in Preston for treatment after suffering head and other injuries.
Twenty two members of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team attended to the woman, who had fallen while descending from High Stile in Buttermere.
A doctor and paramedic from the Great North Air Ambulance Service treated the woman before members of the Cockermouth team were able to carry the woman on a stretcher down to the waiting helicopter 300 metres below.
The team was called just before 5.30pm yesterday.
