A bonnet of a Land Rover flew off and hit an oncoming car in a freak accident on the M6 near Carlisle.
The bonnet came off the car, driven by a 23-year-old man, went into the central reservation and then hit a Hyundai Santa Fe.
No one was injured in the accident but the Hyundai Santa Fe was damaged. Police were called to the incident at 1.40pm today.
One lane of the M6 northbound between junction 44, Carlisle North, and junction 45, Gretna, was blocked while emergency services cleared the scene. The motorway is now fully open.
