MORE than 200 homes are without water and a hole has been left in the road because of a burst water main near Carlisle.
A section of Plains Road, in Wetheral, was closed after the pipe burst near the bowling club.
Villagers, including those on Plains Road, Greenacres and Faustin Hill, have little or not water pressure.
It was reported to United Utilities at about 5pm.
The company apologised to affected customers and is attempted to reconnect their water supply tonight.
An alternative supply vehicle was mobilised to pump treated water directly into the network to reconnect residents while repairs are underway.
A resident of Greenacres told the News & Star: "There's a bubble in the tarmac and a hole in the middle of the bubble. It's about a couple of feet deep and the tarmacs fallen into it."
