Another Olympic gold medallist has been confirmed for this year's Tour of Britain.

The second stage of the country's biggest cycling event will start and finish in Cumbria on Monday with riders setting off from Carlisle and ending up in Kendal.

Contained in the star-studded lineup are British cycling heroes Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.

Tour officials have now added another high-profile rider to their impressive list with Italian Elia Viviani confirmed as the leader for Team Sky.

Viviani won gold in Rio in the men's omnium.

The Italian rider will be joined on the start line by another Rio medallist, Jack Bobridge of Trek Segafredo, who won silver in the team pursuit for Australia.

The duo takes the number of 2016 Olympic medallists confirmed for the Tour to six, alongside Wiggins, Cavendish, Owain Doull and Tom Dumoulin.
