AROUND 25 jobs will be created by pizza chain Domino's, which is opening a store in Workington.

The company has confirmed a new store is due to open in Washington Square in the summer.

It will see the firm invest more than £250,000 in the area.

The branch will be run by franchisee Michael Bird, who already has Domino's branches in Carlisle, Kendal and Barrow.

Recruitment has not yet begun.

It is understood the outlet will be in the vacant corner unit of Campbell-Savours Way, next to Oasis Dental Care.

Change of use permission has been granted for that unit to be used as a food outlet.

A spokesman for Domino's Pizza Group said: "We are continually researching and reviewing great locations across the country in which to open new stores.

"We have identified Workington as a location for a new store and we hope to open the doors to the community in the summer."
