A DRUG dealer found in possession of heroin valued at £20,000 has been jailed for five years.

Stuart James Kendrick, 34, was caught-red handed by police who swooped on a Vauxhall Vectra in Carlisle on March 29.

A large bag of heroin was found in the vehicle and, when Kendrick's home was searched, weighing scales and debtors lists were located with almost £6,000 cash.

Kendrick admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply, possession of cannabis and possession of criminal property. However, he stated he had merely been looking after the cash for others.

At Carlisle Crown Court today, Kendrick, of Denton Holme, Carlisle, was jailed.

Judge Peter Hughes QC concluded that the criminal played a "significant" role in the illegal enterprise "no doubt under the direction of others".
