Jogger ends up in Carlisle hospital after dog attack

A jogger ended up in hospital after trying to defend his puppy.

The man was out running with his pet, a husky, at Engine Lonning, in Carlisle, last night.

He met another man, who was in his 40s, with his dog, which was off its lead, shortly after 10pm.

Police believe the dog attacked the husky and the jogger went to the husky’s aid but ended up being attacked himself.

He went to the accident and emergency department at the Cumberland Infirmary, where his injuries were treated and he was later discharged. The husky was picked up later that evening by a police dog warden.

A police spokeswoman appealed for any witnesses to come forward. Phone the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
