Inquest opens into teenager found dead on Maryport beach

AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a teenager whose body was found on the beach near Maryport Golf Club

Callum Moody-Chapman 17, went missing from Maryport on December 15 after going for a walk while visiting relatives in the town. The teenager lived in Grimsby.

A passer-by discovered his body between Maryport and Allonby two days later following an extensive police search of the area.

The inquest was opened in Cockermouth by coroner David Roberts who took evidence of identification from his father Kevin Chapman.

The hearing was adjourned until May 23.

No cause of death has yet been given.
