A pensioner says he’s having a run of luck after scooping the News & Star’s Super September cash giveaway.

A couple of weeks ago Robert Richardson matched four numbers on the lottery, winning £114.

And yesterday the father-of-six was the latest winner in our Super September competition, pocketing himself £250.

But Mr Richardson has no plans to spend the cash just yet and said he’ll be putting it in the bank to save for a rainy day.

“I buy the News & Star every day,” said the 75-year-old. “I entered the competition last week but got nothing so I tried again. I don’t usually win things, but a few weeks ago I matched four numbers on the lottery so I must be going through a lucky streak.”

Mr Richardson, who lives at Meadow Road, Mirehouse, said that he was shocked when he found out that he had won.

He said: “I heard the phone ringing upstairs but I missed it. I didn’t recognise the number, so I called it back and when they told me that I had won the money, I was shocked.”

The retired HGV driver said that he would definitely recommend other people to try their luck.

“The money comes in handy,” he said. “And it only takes a minute of your time to enter the competition.”

Robert, who has 15 grandchildren and a great grandson, adds his name to a growing list of News & Star competition winners.

The competition runs in the paper throughout September. Readers get a code from the advert in the paper and then either text it or enter it online to be in with a chance to win.
