Hunt for three men after west Cumbria assault

Police are searching for three men who fled in a van following an alleged assault in west Cumbria.

It happened at Whinney Hill, Cleator Moor, at about 9.30pm on Saturday.

Police say a man was assaulted by three others. A woman may also have been hurt but police said she left the scene before any details could be taken. They are appealing for her to come forward.

The three suspects are described as white males. One was in his late 20s, about 6ft tall, of skinny build with dark short hair. The second was about 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build with short brown curly hair and facial stubble. The third was about the same height and build, but in his 30s and bald.

Police say the men were seen to make off in a silver Volkswagen van.

Anyone with information should call PC Kevin Bell on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
