Dave i feel you got it a bit wrong as I certainly have not criticised the turn out with the Protest because I only wished there had been thousands out there not just a few hundred.

What people cannot see is that by voting we still do not have a true democracy because they are each the same mix as it swings only between 3 Parties the last of which did not get in by majority vote.

Cons have always been just that and always have lambasted the poorer end of Society.

We all have families and mortgages to consider and eveyone that was out there on that march should be congratulated for their efforts?!

If it wasnt for trade unions and the right to protest etc we would still be in the dark ages, that is where I think we are heading back to under this government!

The big society is for those who are overpaidand have all the power in this country, the middle and working classes are getting hammered while the rich get richer!
Hopefully those who voted for the conservatives and are now suffering the effects of their policies will not vote for them next time around!

All City council's have and will be cutting jobs and our services. WE the citizens will pay the price, parking charges will rise, publically owned facillities will be sold. Bins maybe collected 3 weekly, bus concessions will eventually cease. I have heard that The Chief Executives of 126 Local Authorities are paid more than the Prime Minister ! In this mad Country it seems running a City badly acually pays more than running the entire Country badly. So when my Bus pass is stopped, my bin is overflowing. Who would I rather keep employed. Its like choosing between a neo natel consultant or Nick Clegg.

Only Economy matter to Gov'ts not the peoples, their own lives are not implicated in the wider cuts.How can Millionaires some of whom inherited that status put themselves in the peoples shoes that are losing their livelihoods.

I'd like to see them live in poverty or a council flat for a year on an amount then to take it away when there are no jobs and see how they too would like it.

Banks are as much to blame and should take better responsibility-debt is a part of the slavery system as are mortgages.

Pete, I am unsure of the connection between reading the local paper and the comment you make regarding taxes! Before you jump to conlusions maybe you should consider the implications of life without a public sector that cannot even provide basic services to the public if cuts of the amount being proposed take place!
Lots of people who work in the public sector have done other jobs for many years prior to their current employment, this can include from being in the forces to many other types of profession where you can be assured they paid their taxes in full as we also do in our jobs today!

In relation to not knowing about the March you assume that we all read the local paper everynight, hardly a lame excuse just an observation thats all!

English Democrats wouldn't know what to do if they ever gained any power. They are the most short sighted individuals I have ever spoken to. If they were in power we'd all be better off just leaving the UK.

You assume that none of the parties listen to the electorate Pete. Big assumption there, for all you know there may be a large part of the country who do agree with what they are doing.

Fact is nothing can every been done to the bankers, nothing can ever be done to their bonuses. The matter is over, we have what we have, we have to deal with it. No amount of moaning about the bankers and their bonuses will fix the situation and the minute everyone gets over that we can move forward as a country.

I refer you back to my previous comment, we were all happy to borrow, spend, run up debt, buy things on credit. Now we have to reap what we have sown and cut our cloth accordingly.

Whilst folks keep on voting thinking it is Democracy when it swings between 3 main parties who are all the same then we will not have a Government which should be run by the people for the people that is a Democratic state of being. None of the 3 main parties listen to the Electorate full stop. People seem asleep to the reality of it all and think cos they place a X that it is true democracy.

I'm starting to think all these people who are constantly blaming the banks should be rounded up by the police and kettled until they concede to stop mentioning it.
