Huge drugs seizure in north Cumbria

Drugs with a street value of £230,000 have been seized in north Cumbria.

The haul of class-A drugs is one of the biggest ever seen in the county.

The operation also involved the arrest of five men from Liverpool, aged between 19 and 40, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

They are being questioned by detectives.

Cumbria Constabulary has not revealed what was seized or where and when the men were arrested.

However, class A is the most serious category of illegal drugs and includes heroine, crack cocaine, cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, magic mushrooms, methadone and crystal meth.

Those convicted of supply face up to life in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.
