Heavy showers and thunderstorms warning for Cumbria

The Met Office has warned heavy showers may lead to flooding in some parts of Cumbria.

It has issued a yellow warning, in place until 10pm today, covering the north and east of the county.

The agency says heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and may persist well into the evening.

"The public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding, with the added hazard of lightning in some areas," it adds.
