The Numatic cleaner was taken from the old Richard Rose premises on Edgehill Road, Harraby, Carlisle, between 5pm on Saturday and 9am today.

A boarded up classroom was broken into and six vacuums removed. Five were moved into a different room and one was stolen.

Cumbria police today warned the vacuums - used to clean up asbestos - could be a serious health risk to anyone who comes into contact with them.

The stolen vacuum is yellow in colour with a 110 power plug.

Anyone with information about the theft or who knows where the missing machine is, should call PC John Spriggs at Carlisle police on 101. Officers have advised that the machine should not be handled.
