Headteacher suspended from Cumbrian school

A primary headteacher has been suspended from his village school.
The county council said they were unable to reveal why Nick Sutton had been suspended from his position at Oughterside near Aspatria, where he has taught for the past 18 years.
Penny Gray, chairwoman of the school governors, confirmed he had been suspended for the start of the autumn school.
“Following careful consideration, the governors have suspended Mr Sutton, without prejudice, from his position. An investigation will follow,” she said.
“We cannot discuss the reasons for the suspension at this time but we can confirm that it is not related to any child protection issues.”
A county council spokesman said the suspension did not put the 18-pupil school’s future at risk.
