Girl hurt after being knocked over on Carlisle crossing

Police want a driver whose car struck a young girl on a pedestrian crossing in Carlisle to contact them.

The 11-year-old was on the crossing on Wigton Road, close to the Westrigg Road junction, when the collision took place.

She sustained grazing to an elbow, knee and her back.

The car involved is believed to be a white Fiat 500 with thin coloured stripes along its side. It was travelling into Carlisle.

Its driver was said by police to be a woman in her 20s wth short dark brown hair and a diagonal fringe.

She and any witnesses to the collision - which happened at about 3.15pm yesterday - should contact Pc Scott Thomson on 101.
