I agree with the comments about smokers. I basically cannot sit outdoors now in cafes/bars to eat and drink as its full of smokers stinking my food up. Sitting outside for a meal used to be to enjoy the sun, now all the tables are taken up with people who are there to smoke. I hope he makes bans smoking there if there is food being consumed.

Fair play to Ged, at least he trying to bring the city upto scratch with other places in the country. It is exactly what the place needs, Good luck.

More nice beer garden areas are exactly what Carlisle needs. Just last summer my friends and I would go out for a few afternoon drinks and want to sit in the sun only to find very few places with adequate outside seating!
Plus its better to have the smokers out the back of the pubs and clubs and people enjoying their drinks out of sight as opposed to drunks on the street front such as Party Party, Walkabout and The Rambler

there isn't enough places to sit outside when on a night out! I think this is a fantastic idea and I really hope it goes smoothly for all involved. Hopefully this outside area wont be full of high and mighty non-smokers complaining about people smoking where its legal to.

wonder how much is a good idea for fresh air and another idea to pollute the air with cigarette smoke. Aren't there enough places to drink already in that area of the city??

Whilst Mr Crooks played a blinder when he opend Buskers and as he admits is where he made alot of his fortune, unfortunately that was more to do with chance and luck than anything. Carlisle is saturated with places to go to eat and drink to the point they open and close like my curtains! (and im a nosey neighbour) and it was hard enough for the owners to make a living when there was no recession, plainly due to the competition these days. Now the country is in financial turmoil, Im afraid to say, but if I were you Ged I wouldnt take the gamble!!

It will certainly look better if anything the building looks like its about to collapse ;-) great food at panchos by the way shame there wasnt more of a variety of drink !!!
