A service will be held at St John the Baptist Church in Upperby at 1pm followed by burial in Carlisle Cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Eden Valley Hospice.

Mr Little – a former mayor, war veteran and ex-leader of both Carlisle City and Cumbria County Councils – died at the hospice on Sunday.

A lifelong Labour Party member, Hugh began his political career in 1959 and retired 30 years later in 1989, after serving for a year as chairman of Cumbria County Council.

He was awarded the OBE and given the freedom of the city in honour of his services to local government.

In 1987 he was honoured with a street named after him – Hugh Little Garth in Upperby.

How far would you trust any TripAdvisor or online review when booking accommodation?

Not far. Always suspect honestly critical reviews are discouraged.

With no way of checking any glowing online review is independent, users beware.

I use them all the time and find them very helpful.
