Firefighters tackle chimney blaze in Carlisle

Firefighters tackled a chimney blaze in Wigton Road in Carlisle this afternoon.

Crews from Carlisle West station were called to the scene at around 4pm and used an aerial ladder platform to gain access to the chimney and put the fire out.

The blaze started in a wood burning stove following a build up of residue inside the chimney.

The occupants of the property were inside at the time but nobody was hurt.
