A man who headbutted a police officer who was trying to arrest him has been fined £75.
Russell Ian Mason, 27, of Queen’s Avenue, Workington, pleaded guilty to obstructing in the execution on his duty at West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
Jane Mackrill, prosecuting, said police were called to the home of Andrea Rafferty on June 9 after Mason was dropped off in a taxi following a night out.
Ms Rafferty told officers he had kicked her door in, assaulted her and refused to leave.
While being arrested Mason was abusive to Ms Rafftery, headbutted an officer and struggled violently.
Neil Pilling, defending, said Mason was someone who didn’t drink very often but when he did tended to lose his memory.
He said Mason couldn’t remember the course of the arrest.
Mr Pilling added: “He is very apologetic about the incident and very sorry it has happened.”
No other charges were brought from the incident.
Mason was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 surcharge.
