Ex-Carlisle jeweller denies six-year benefits fraud

A former Carlisle jeweller has appeared at crown court accused of a six-year benefits fraud.
Susan Patricia Lister, 59, of Marsh House, Burgh by Sands, faced two charges of failing to tell the authorities that she was “living together as man and wife” with David Lister – something that would have affected her entitlement to income support and help with council tax payments.
Lister pleaded not guilty to both charges.
She was remanded on unconditional bail and will go on trial on July 9, although she will be back in court for an administrative hearing on June 29.
