Dr Who star calls in for coffee at Gretna cafe

Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman turned heads when he popped into Costa at Gretna Gateway on Friday.
Barrowman, who most recently guest starred in several episodes of Desperate Housewives, had staff in the coffee shop brimming with excitement as he picked up his takeaway decaf latte.
Manager Claire Little said he was with his partner, who came up to buy the drinks, while he stayed in the background trying to keep a low profile. “I was in the back but the girls recognised him straight away,” she said.
“My assistant manager Lindsey [Graham] was really excited, she loves him.
“She went over to speak to him and he was really nice, very pleasant. She told him she’d loved him in Desperate Housewives and he smiled. He said he didn’t want a fuss so we didn’t ask for a photo.
“I don’t know why he was here. I think he’s originally from Glasgow so perhaps he was on his way up there and stopped off for a coffee.” We get quite a lot of passing trade from the motorway.”
The entertainer, who sings, acts, presents and judges on various talent shows, didn’t stay in the coffee shop. Instead he and his partner opted for takeaway coffees while they wandered round the outlet village, just outside Gretna.
