Cyclist hurt in crash with bus on Carlisle's Botchergate

Motorists were urged to avoid Botchergate in Carlisle following an accident involving a bus and cyclist.

Police were called to the incident at 1.50pm today.

It was described as a "high impact collision."

The 19-year-old male cyclist, from Carlisle, was taken to the city's Cumberland Infirmary, with non life-threatening injuries.

The bus was driven by a 35-year-old man from Carlisle.

Police advised drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
