A teenager who drove a stolen vehicle while on drugs has been warned to expect jail.

Dane Chambers, 19, of Wetheriggs Rise, Penrith, admitted a string of offences at Carlisle crown court.

The court heard Chambers stole cash and car keys from the offices of Appleton Cars in Carlisle between September 2 and 5 last year. He also stole a Peugeot 307 and a TomTom satellite navigation system between the same dates.

Chambers pleaded guilty to burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and theft in relation to the incidents.

He also admitted driving the Peugeot 307 while unfit through drugs on the A6 between Carlisle and Penrith on September 4.

He also admitted using the vehicle without third party insurance and driving the vehicle without a licence.

Judge Peter Hughes QC told him he faces an immediate prison sentence – his first custodial sentence.

Chambers will be sentenced on March 17.
