Man pleads guilty to attacking pregnant woman

A man has admitted attacking a pregnant woman but a judge will have to hear evidence to decide the extent of his violence.

Robert Skelton, 45, admitted a single count of assaulting Jane Bowman on November 2 last year, causing her actual bodily harm.

At Carlisle Crown Court, prosecutor Beccy McGregor told a judge that the Crown Prosecution Service did not accept the defendant’s version of how the attack happened.

A judge will hear evidence about the issues in the case on Thursday, May 13.

Judge Barbara Forrester adjourned the case until that date, granting the defendant, who lives at High Seaton, near Workington, bail.
