Cumbrian man facing 'trespass to commit sex offence' charge

A man has appeared in court accused of going into a house to sexually assault a woman.

William James Winder, 59, of Firth View Walk, Workington, is charged with sexually touching a woman and trespassing with the intention of committing a sex offence.

At Carlisle Crown Court, Winder spoke only to confirm his name.

He will not be asked to enter pleas to the two charges until he next appears in court, for a plea and case management hearing, on January 20.

He was remanded in custody.
