Cumbrian man faces seven charges of rape

A MAN has appeared at Carlisle Crown Court accused of a string of sex offences – including rape – against a schoolgirl.
Clive James Anderson, 58, of Maryport Road, Dearham, faces 15 charges covering a nine-year period between 1972 and 1981.
He is charged with eight counts of gross indecency and seven of rape.
Anderson did not enter pleas to any of the charges, but will do so when he appears in court again for a plea and case management hearing on October 22.
If as expected he pleads not guilty he will go on trial in January.
