Cumbrian man denies 11 charges of child abduction

A 20-year-old man from Workington has denied 11 charges of child abduction.

John Nathan Alexander Dougan, 20, is accused of abducting five children on unspecified dates between May 1 and August 10 last year.

Dougan, of Chaucer Road, Workington, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded not guilty to each of the 11 charges.

Each of the individual charges alleges Dougan took the child involved to various places.

These were named in court as Allonby, Maryport, Cockermouth, Whitehaven and St Bees.

The case was adjourned for a trial to take place in November.

Dougan was released on bail.
