Cumbrian man charged with murder of his mum

A 48-year-old man has been charged with murdering his mum.

Robert Adam Pierre Archbold, from Outgate, Ambleside, is accused of killing Jane Marie Theresa Archbold, aged 77, on Tuesday night.

Police were called to reports of an assault at a flat in Outgate at 10pm. There they discovered an elderly woman with serious injuries. Despite attempts to resuscitate her, she died at the scene and a murder investigation was launched.

The suspect was arrested a short time later.

Archbold will appear at Furness District Magistrates court in Barrow today (Friday).
