Cumbrian man accused of child sex offences

A Dearham man has appeared in court accused of 15 counts of sexual offences against a child over a nine-year period.
Clive James Anderson, 58, of Maryport Road, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court yesterday .
He is charged with eight counts of gross indecency with a girl under the age of 14 and seven counts of raping a female under 16.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1972 and 1981.
His case was committed to Carlisle Crown Court and he was remanded in custody until August 31.
